Desktop warnings: customers, suppliers and purchase invoices

What the warnings on the desktop customer, debt / payment, supplier and purchase invoice screens mean and how to fix them.

5 min readUpdated: October 2026

This page lists the warnings and error messages that appear in the BenimPOS desktop app on customer and supplier cards, when adding a debt or payment, and on purchase invoices. Under each message you'll find what it means, why it appears and what to do. Search the page for the first few words of the message on your screen (Ctrl+F). Parts shown as <…> in the messages appear on screen as a product name, amount or error detail.

Adding and editing customers

Details: Adding customers.

"You have already saved a customer with this name. Please choose a new customer name."

"Existing customer!"

What it means: You can't create a second customer with the same customer name (label).

Why it appears: The name you typed is already used by a saved customer (upper / lower case doesn't matter).

What to do: Use the saved customer or make the name distinct (e.g. AHMET YILMAZ - MERKEZ).

"You must enter the name of the customer you want to add."

"Type the name of the customer you want to add in the search box."

What it means: No name was entered for the new customer.

What to do: Fill in the CUSTOMER NAME (LABEL) field. In the Select customer window on the sales screen, first type the name in the search box, then press + New customer.

"Customer could not be added: <error detail>"

"An error occurred while adding the customer."

What it means: The new customer could not be saved.

Why it appears: A problem occurred while writing to the database.

What to do: Wait a few seconds and try again; if that does not help, close and reopen the app. If the problem continues, write to our WhatsApp support line (weekdays 09:00–18:00) with a screenshot of the message.

"An error occurred during the update."

What it means: The change to the customer details was not saved.

Why it appears: The record was not found or the database did not respond.

What to do: Close and reopen the customer card and press Save again.

"The customer's balance could not be read; nothing was done. Please try again."

What it means: The balance check before deleting the customer or resetting the account could not be done; nothing was changed.

Why it appears: These actions require the debt and credit to be zero; the balance could not be read at that moment.

What to do: Close and reopen the card and try again. If the remaining debt isn't zero, add a payment to bring it to zero first. Details: Customer debt and closing the account.

"An error occurred while saving the payment. Please try again."

What it means: The payment / credit could not be recorded.

Why it appears: A problem occurred while writing to the database.

What to do: Check the transactions list on the customer card; if the record isn't there, add it again (check first so you don't enter the same payment twice).

"An error occurred while cancelling the payment."

What it means: The credit or payment could not be cancelled.

Why it appears: The record may already have been cancelled, or the database did not respond.

What to do: Close and reopen the supplier card and check the transactions list.

"Are you sure you want to delete the supplier? This cannot be undone. The supplier's debts and payments will be deleted and any invoices will be updated to 'No supplier'"

What it means: This is the confirmation question before deleting a supplier.

What to do: If you answer Yes, the supplier's debt / payment transactions are deleted; purchase invoices are not deleted, and their supplier field becomes “No supplier”. If you're not sure, answer No.
