Hardware recommendations: barcode scanners, printers, scales
BenimPOS doesn't sell hardware; what to look out for when buying a barcode scanner, receipt and label printer, scale and computer, and the device models we tested.
BenimPOS provides software only; it doesn't sell barcode scanners, printers, scales, computers or fiscal cash registers, and you aren't tied to any brand. Standard devices that are set up correctly in Windows work in BenimPOS without any extra settings. Below you'll find what to look out for when buying, and the devices BenimPOS was tested with during development.

These models were used in BenimPOS testing. This is not a recommendation or a guarantee; other devices with similar specs work too.

What to look out for when buying
- Computer: the desktop app runs on Windows 7 and later; Windows 10 or 11 is recommended. There is no desktop app for Mac. Enough RAM and free disk space (the app is installed on the C drive) directly affect performance. Touchscreen POS computers can be used too: On-screen keyboard.
- Barcode scanner: choose a model with a USB connection that sends Enter after reading (the default on most models). Just plug it in and it works; it works in the free version too. For phones/tablets, use the mobile app's camera scanning instead of an external scanner.
- Receipt printer: a thermal printer with a USB connection; your receipt width is 58 or 80 mm. The printer's Windows driver must be set up for the receipt size; the shop you bought the printer from or your computer technician installs the driver.
- Label printer: any brand; the driver must be set up for the label size you use. Printing shelf labels
- Mobile Bluetooth printer: before buying, check at the shop that it pairs with your phone and prints. Some brands (e.g. Zebra) can have problems on iOS and Android.
- Scale: scales that print barcode labels, or scales that send the weight to the computer (USB / serial port), are supported; it's best not to use an adapter in between. Selling with a scale
- Fiscal cash register / POS device: only choose models with an integration (the supported models of Ingenico, Beko, Hugin, inPOS, Paygo, Propay, Pavo and Ödeal). Current list: Fiscal cash register (ÖKC) integration.
Unsupported hardware
- Opening the cash drawer automatically on a sale
- Handheld terminal integration (on an Android handheld terminal, the mobile app can scan with the camera)
- Price check devices and external customer price displays (in the desktop app a second monitor can be used as a customer display)

Do you sell hardware? Is there a complete till package?
No. BenimPOS doesn't sell hardware and has no partner reseller.
Which barcode scanner should I buy?
Any barcode scanner with a USB connection is enough. The tested model is the Sunlux XL-626A.
Will you install my printer's driver?
No. The driver is installed by the shop you bought the printer from or by your computer technician. Once the driver is installed correctly, we can help with the receipt settings in BenimPOS over a remote connection.
My device doesn't work. What should I do?

Can I use my phone as a barcode scanner?
Yes. In the mobile app you can scan barcodes with the phone's rear camera on the sales, add product and stock count screens: Mobile app.
